Memorial Pin

In 2008, Pat Dupont and Ted Moore attended the annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg Maryland for their second time.  During the trip they continued to honor the memory of firefighter Mark Mansfield as well as other firefighters who have died in the line of duty during the previous year.

While in Emmitsburg  Pat and Ted noticed that family members of fallen firefighters were often given memorial pins as a small display of gratitude and respect for the sacrifice their families had endured.  This gesture moved them to create a memorial pin that recognized Mark Mansfield as well as other firefighters killed in the line of duty.  Ted and Pat then approached the newly formed Benevolent Association to assist with this initiative.

The OPFDBA Board of Directors decided to create a self sustaining program that would honor the memories of fallen firefighters, display our members’ sympathy to the families of the fallen and assist in fulfilling the mission of the OPFDBA.  Memorial pins are sent on behalf of the members of the OPFD to fallen firefighters’ families.  When you purchase a pin, not only are you helping to support this worthwhile initiative, you are honoring the best traditions of the fire service as well as assisting our members in their time of need.
